Lok Sabha Elections 2024: DEO Kupwara visits far-flung Kamkadi village, inspects polling station

KUPWARA : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan, who is also District Election Officer (DEO) Friday visited Kamkadi, a far flung village of Hayhama in Kupwara district and inspected polling station No-01 Kamkadi of the Kupwara Assembly Constituency to take first hand appraisal of Assured Minimum Facilities (AMFs).

She also reviewed the preparedness of administration for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
This polling station due to its remote geographical location has been declared as a special polling station of the Kupwara district.
The inspection was aimed to ensure that this polling station is accessible to voters especially to specially-abled persons. Ramp access, and other facilities were reviewed by the DEO.
The DEO, accompanied by ACR Kupwara, Peerzada Mumtaz, Ex. Engineer R&B, Commanding officer 47 RR, Tehsildar Kupwara and Zonal Magistrate assessed the facilities, security arrangements and accessibility features at the polling station.
Ayushi emphasized the concerned departments for ensuring all required facilities at the polling station so that each and every eligible voter shall participate in the election process without any hindrance.
The DC interacted with staff to review the preparedness and adherence to electoral guidelines, emphasizing the importance of impartiality and transparency throughout the electoral proceedings.
She reiterated the administration’s commitment to conducting free, fair and peaceful elections, urging all stakeholders to cooperate and contribute to the success of the electoral process.
The DC also reviewed the storage infrastructure, security measures, and inventory management systems in place at Polling station to handle election material
The DEO interacted with the locals and first time voters of the village and urged them to use their right to franchise enthusiastically.
She further said that Kamkadi is a beautiful valley which has vast tourism potential and in future it will be brought on a tourism map and necessary infrastructure will be developed.
Remote Kamkadi polling station has a total of 191 voters.
