Sanna Vani, a 25 year old girl from Budgam, born in Summer Capital Srinagar was linked with make-up from her childhood when she was still studying in 8th standard.
Sanna says I had a deep connection in doing make-up activities and people would come to my home for different sorts of make-up including for brides. Once I became a bit popular, I opened a salon in Lal chowk in those days.
I was doing nursing at Badami Bagh Cantonment with the Indian Army and left to pursue my dream and I should go into this profession formally. I then went to New Delhi in 2020 to learn make-up in a professional way and it took me a 6 months course from “LAKME” in New Delhi to learn the nitty gritties of it, say Sanna.
Sanna remarked that nothing is easy here in Kashmir for girls and I too faced the same situation when I entered into this profession – My relatives ceased to visit our home even as we faced economical issues at that time. As expectedly, now the same relatives are appreciating my success.
“When I came back from Delhi I used social media for my work and I got a lot bookings from the people, I am currently running a Salon by the name “GLAM UP MAKEUP STUDIO” at Hyderpora from last 6 years, however for last two years as professionally. I want to pursue this profession with all the dedication for which I have severed my ties with many and it is because of this that I am a make-up Artist forever.”
“I have even worked with Bollywood movies, local songs here and big production Houses of Kashmir like KJ Production, Hamisto Production, who are known to work with big Actors like Shahrukh Khan and Emran Hashmi. I also keep myself updated with new Beauty courses in the market, and also do famous Prosthetic makeup”, says Sanna.
My message/appeal to girls of Kashmir is that, do whatever you, and do it with respect, and show people where the girls have reached.
