Kupwara : Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Handwara, Sajad Lone, on Saturday visited the shelling-affected areas of Panzgam and Chokibal in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district. During the visit, Lone interacted with residents affected by recent cross-border shelling, listening to their concerns and grievances.
The locals briefed the MLA about the challenges they face due to frequent shelling, including threats to life, damaged property, and lack of adequate safety infrastructure. Expressing solidarity with the affected families, Lone assured them that their issues would be raised at the appropriate forums.
He strongly advocated for the construction of community bunkers in all vulnerable border areas to ensure the safety of civilians during ceasefire violations. “It is imperative that the government prioritizes the safety of border residents and takes immediate steps to build community bunkers across affected regions,” he stated.
Lone also called upon authorities to provide relief and compensation to the families affected by the shelling and to enhance preparedness in these sensitive zones.
