The initiative, which follows the directives of the Transport Commissioner of Jammu and Kashmir, is part of ongoing efforts to enhance road safety across the valley.
During the drive, a total of 80 vehicles were checked, resulting in the issuance of 28 challans for violations under various sections of the Motor Vehicle Act. Rs. 60,000 is anticipated to be collected as fines from these challans.
In addition to the fines, the MVD team seized four vehicles for violating permit conditions and impounded two motorcycles for lacking valid documents.
Speaking to the press, ARTO Dr. Showkat Ahmad Bhat highlighted the importance of such operations in reducing road accidents and saving lives. He assured that similar drives would continue with greater intensity in the future. “The goal is to minimize accidents on our roads and ensure public safety. This requires the active cooperation of all road users,” Dr. Bhat said.
He also urged all road users, drivers, passengers and pedestrians to follow traffic rules and act responsibly. “Road safety is a collective effort, and everyone must play their part to reduce accidents and save lives,” he added.
The drive reflects a growing commitment to road safety in Anantnag, and authorities are hopeful that these measures will lead to a significant reduction in road accidents in the coming months.
