Narcotics Seizure – One Person Apprehended with Contraband Substance at Drugmulla

Kupwara : Today, a naka (checkpoint) was established by Police Post Drugmulla in the Drugmulla market area as part of ongoing efforts to curb the menace of drug trafficking and ensure public safety. During the naka, routine checking and surveillance were carried out on suspicious vehicles and individuals moving through the area.

During the course of the operation, police personnel observed a person moving in a suspicious manner. Upon noticing the presence of the naka party, the individual attempted to flee the spot, raising further suspicion. However, he was promptly chased and apprehended by alert personnel.

Upon preliminary questioning the person identified himself as:

Name: Shahrukh Shafi Mir
Father’s Name: Mohammad Shafi Mir
Resident of: Kupwara

A personal search of the individual led to the recovery of susbstantial amount of a charas like substance.The recovered contraband was seized on the spot as per legal procedures.

Accordingly, a case has been registered under:

FIR No.: 157/2025
Section: 8/20 NDPS Act
Police Station: Kupwara

Further investigation has been taken up, and efforts are being made to trace the source of the contraband and any possible links to a broader narcotics network operating in the area.

Kupwara Police remains committed to its zero-tolerance policy against drugs.
