Mattu who was addressing a press conference here in Srinagar responded to the war of words and allegations levelled by National Conference and BJP.

“The NC has steeped low and resorted to allegations against the functioning of SMC. These allegations have no connection with facts on ground, and thus vindicates the NC leadership has realised now the party is loosing foothold in Srinagar”, Mayor SMC as per KNS said.

He said being a Mayor of the city it is incumbent upon me to reach out to people and listen to their grievances. “This is a part of democracy to engage non-voters of Srinagar into democratic process. I often remain engage to meet my people and listen their grievances. However some elements do not digest my reach out efforts and tries to resort allegations”, he said.

Mattu added BJP should know there is no legislative process in supporting the chair of Mayor. “Yesterday BJP has announced it has withdrawn its support from Mayor. I want to tell them there is a contesting process for Mayor’s chair and it is not a legislative process”, he added.

Mattu also added allegations levelled by BJP Corporator are “unfounded” and “far from realities”. “The BJP has alleged that Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari had pleaded BJP for supporting Mayor. Also they dragged Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi, Hon’ble HM Amit Shah, Hon’ble LG Manoj Sinha, PC Chairman Sajad Gani Lone into the matter which speaks about their mathematics. This is all baseless and far from realities”, he added. (KNS)
