No Police Casualties in Kashmir Valley in 2024; A Cop, 2 Troopers Killed in Jammu

Srinagar : In 2024, no casualties among police personnel were reported in militancy-related incidents in the Kashmir Valley. However, the Jammu region witnessed the killing of a policeman and two Central Reserve Police Force personnel, along with injuries to a Border Security Force (BSF) officer in cross-border firing.

The data available with the news agency reveals that iIn Kogmandali village of Kathua district, a police head constable was killed during a militancy incident, marking the only reported fatality among Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel for the year.

CRPF personnel faced multiple attacks in the Jammu region. In Hiranagar’s Saida Sukhal village of Kathua district, a CRPF constable, Kabir Das, was killed in an encounter with militants. In another incident, CRPF Inspector Kuldeep Kumar was killed when militants ambushed a patrolling party in the Cheel Dadu area of Udhampur district.

Besides, a BSF officer sustained injuries due to Pakistani firing along the Line of Control in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu. [KNT]
