On 16th Jan 2024 in a momentous event at Raj Bhawan, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Mr. Manoj Sinha, inaugurated the North Kashmir Gazette, a captivating travel guide aimed at uncovering the hidden gems of North Kashmir. The brainchild of the Kashmir Writers Association, this gazette promises to be more than just a guide; it is a gateway to the offbeat and unexplored locales that Kashmir has to offer. The ceremony was graced by Manoj Sinha, Hon’ble Governor of Jammu & Kashmir , Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, GOC 15 Corps; Maj Gen Girish Kalia, GOC, 28 Infantry Division; Sh Fida Firdous, President, Kashmir Writers Association/Editor , Tahir Majeed, member editorial board of the North Kashmir Gazette, senior officials of Army and members of Kashmir Writers. The first edition of the travel guide includes the insightful information regarding the best off-beat places and border areas to visit in the northern districts of Kashmir and all the necessary information related to home-stay to the tourists.
As the inauguration unfolded, the LG J&K, Mr. Manoj Sinha, expressed his enthusiasm for the travel guide, emphasizing its potential to redefine the tourism landscape of Jammu and Kashmir. His words echoed a genuine fascination for the meticulously compiled content that portrays the often-overlooked scenic marvels tucked away in the folds of the valley. On the occasion the Lt Governor highlighted the significant role of private players, youth, writers and civil society members in the growth of tourism sector in rural areas. He also emphasised on the promotion of Kashmiri and other regional languages, especially among the youth of the UT.
The essence of the North Kashmir Gazette lies in its collective narrative, woven together by individuals from various areas , each contributing their unique perspectives. This collaborative effort enriches the travel guide with a diversity that reflects the multifaceted beauty of Kashmir.
