The Oversharer:
In many social circles, there is often one individual who shares everything in his company such as thoughts, feelings, strategies and experiences. This person may be an empathetic listener, and trustworthy, who feels comfortable while sharing thoughts, feelings, experiences etc. The oversharing friend is usually generous and willingly being there for their friends in times of need.
The Reluctant Sharers:
On the flip side, there are friends who tend to keep their emotions close to their chest. They might be introverted. As a result, they often share significantly less compared to the oversharing friend as they may feel uncomfortable by sharing their secrets, catch ups to others.
The one-sidedness in sharing may arise from various factors:
Personality Differences: Extroverted individuals might naturally be more open about their feelings, while introverts might prefer to process emotions internally.
Fear of Vulnerability: sharing emotions can make one feel vulnerable, and not everyone is comfortable with that level of exposure.
Impacts on the Friendship:
Communication Breakdown: As the imbalance continues, miscommunication and misunderstandings may arise, leading to distance between friends.
Weakening Bonds: The friendship might become weak, lacking the emotional closeness and in the end strong bonds turn to weak bonds because they lack that binding energy that keeps them intact forever .
Emotional Support: Friends are more likely to provide emotional support and understanding when they have a deeper understanding of each other.
Encouraging Authenticity: The sharing person often sets an example for others to be authentic and open themselves, leading to more genuine and meaningful relationships within the friend circle.
Drawbacks of Being a Sharing Person:
Oversharing: There is a fine line between healthy sharing and oversharing. The sharing person should be mindful of not crossing boundaries or making others uncomfortable.
Being open can sometimes lead to emotional manipulation, privacy invasion, or misunderstanding by others.
Emotional Exhaustion: The sharing person may feel emotionally drained if they constantly carry the weight of being the primary sharer or if they perceive an imbalance in sharing within the group.
Sometimes jealousy: As Prophet Yaqoob(a.s) advised His son Yusuf (a.s) not to share his dreams with his brothers because doing so could have caused jealousy and resentment among them. Yousuf (a.s) dreams predicted that He would become superior to His brothers.
sharing such dreams might have led to feelings of rivalry among them.
As history tells, Yousuf(a.s) brothers did become jealous of Him, which eventually led to him being thrown into a well and later sold as a slave. Thus, Yaqoob’s(a.s) advice was meant to protect Yousuf from harm within the family.
Conclusion:
In every friendship, there will be variations in how much each person shares. However, a one-sided dynamic can create emotional strain and distance between friends. Open communication, empathy, and a willingness to understand each other’s perspectives are crucial in addressing the imbalance and fostering a healthier, more balanced friendship.
If Allah decides to give good to someone and the whole world gathers to stop it, they won’t be able to! Then why we put out of sight something to everyone, He (Allah) doesn’t checks the outer conversation of a person and showing off of a person that he is good to his friends, neighbours and relatives. Allah checks the inner conversation of a person that he is humming inside heart. Allah checks that is this man literally kind to his friends, relatives etc. Afterall if allah wills He will make a person more smart even if world will try to hate a person.
Remember, true friendship is built on trust, respect, mutual support and understanding. It’s essential to surround yourself with people who uplift and genuinely care for you.
A heart so eager, full of care,
But in return, an empty stare.
The giver gives, with a selfless grace, The taker takes, leaving an empty space Let go of ties that bring you sorrow, Embrace the ones that bloom tomorrow.
But lessons learned, though hard to bear, Can lead to friendships that are fair.
