Prophet Mohammad (SAW) said, “Verily Allah and his Maliakaakh send mercy upon those who eat Sehri”
Pre-dawn meal, especially in Ramadan, is known as Sehri. Many people find it hard to wake up for the morning meal or Sehari. It is a religious requirement for all those intending to fast during the day. Sehri time is the time of blessings. Sehari time is sacred time and full of rewards.
The Ramadan is the sacred month for the Muslims across the world.It is the ninth month of the muslim year during which time Muslims have no food or drink during the day. It has numerous blessings so far as the Muslim community across the world is concerned. People, especially Muslim community, fast for 30 days,to symbolise devotion towards the Almighty. Fasting purifies souls and gives a lesson of patience. It is believed that during Ramadan all the devils are locked up with chains, all gates of hell are closed and all the doors of heaven are open. This is the essence of Ramadan. Mislims let go worldly pleasures and extravagant behaviour of spending and observing fasting along with friends and family. In the light of Hadith, “Abu Huraira related the Prophet Mohammed (SAW) narrated Allah the Majestic said, Every deed of man will receive ten to seven hundred times reward except fasting, for it is for Me and i shall reward it as I like”.Allah greatest blessing upon us that even the partaking of food before dawn for fasting is so greatly rewarded. In the Holy Quran it is mentioned ‘O ye who believe! Fasting is prescribed for you even if it was prescribed for those before you. Quran expresses in which a muslim is allowed to abstain from fasting and introduces alternative situations such as feeding the needy people. Also it is mentioned that it is not necessary for people who are travelling or sick to be fasting. It can be postponed until another equal number of days.The month of Ramadan in which Quran was revealed a guidance for mankind and clear proofs of the guidance and whosoever of you is present let him fast the month, and whosoever of you is sick or on a journey let him fast a number of other day. Allah desireth for you ease, not hardship for you.
Prima facie that eating Sehari has a lot of health benefits. To wake up early and offer Salat Tahjjud and then pray to Almighty Allah for his numerous blessings is absolutely the highest virtue in Islam.It gives inner strength and mental peace. It also has the capability to avert acts of sins and wickedness.According to the islamic tradition the third part of the night is the best time to make wishes and duas. Prophet Mohammed (SAW) said,”During the night there is time when the Muslims do not ask for the good of this world and the Hereafter but It will be given to him and that happens every night.”Prophet Mohammad (SAW) also used to perform Tahajjud prayer regularly.He also encouraged his companions to perform the same. The Prophet used to wake up in the middle of the night, cleanse himself, praise Allah and recite the ten verses of Surah Al Imraan. In our childhood we used to wake up early in the morning to eat Sehri when a barrel man named Khazir Mohammad from Darpora strikes it’s barrel for the purpose of waking up people. Our forefathers always told us that wake up!, wake up! barrel man arrives. Then I came to know the importance of Sehari time. In Ramadan there is also mentioned one blessed night called Laylatul Qadar (Night Of Power) is the night in which God first revealed the Quran to the Prophet Mohammad (SAW) through the Angel Jabriel. As we heard from the forefathers that in this particular night people thronged in Jamias, Masjids to offer prayer, duas congregational manner to please Almighty Allah and keeping awake during the entire night.During the night refreshment like, tea and Halwa was also being arranged for the worshipers.This nights blessing and rewards is equal to this one thousand night. During Ramadan one should reflect on prayer and deliver oneself from sin . While the emphasis of Ramadan is on fasting during daylight hours, it is also about strengthening one’s relationship with Allah through worshipping His greatness and praying to Him. Millions of individuals worldwide fast from sunrise to sunset during the holy month of Ramadan. However apart from the spiritual significance most of them are unaware of the benefits of fasting in Ramadan. It requires immense self control to remain without food and water for almost 12-14 hours a day. Ramadan has both physical, psychological and spiritual benefits.In Ramadan one acquires Taqwa which is an islamic phrase that refers to being aware of Allah and the truth and piety and dread of God. This term frequently appears in the holy book Quran. It bears the deep sense of being cautious over one’s own life and actions as angels are constantly on the watch. It is said that Allah repays the fasting Muslims with great rewards and blessings. According to Muslim Scholars Even a single day of fasting takes an individual away from Hellfire. In Ramadan fasting assists in preventing obesity and other chronic diseases such as diabetes.It also enhances the level of protein providing insulin resistance.It also offers the protection against the hazards of a fat. Fasting also stimulates the lipid profile and it lowers blood Cholestrol.It also prevents heart attacks, strokes and other disorders.Fasting positively impacts one’s lifestyle and digestive system.Many research has been released in the last few years suggesting that it can lower high risk factors like Cancer and other fatal diseases.Ramadan in it’s entirely is an especially prominent time in Islam. In Ramadan fasting may assist in preventing sinful deeds. It prevents fatigue and headaches during the daytime. It prevents the fasting people from laziness or sluggishness. It also prevents the loss of body cells.Fasting for the whole month induces a sense of happiness, focus and self-control.These attributes can be utilized in various sects of life. Muslims experience an enhanced sense of achievement, reward and pride and control after hours of fasting.Pregenant women are excluded from fasting as per Islamic law. So we must get up early in these last 14days to eat sehri and get all the benefits and rewards mentioned in the Holy Quran. Surely we will succeed in this materialistic world and hereafter as well.
