Sinha said that in the last five-years the democracy has taken deep roots in the Union Territory of J&K which can be substantiated by the recent voter turnout in the Lok Sabha elections. This shows the faith of people in the constitution.

He said that “under the guidance of Prime Minister Modi, they have kept the flame of inclusive development and social equality burning, illuminating the regions’ journey,” he said.

He said that the economically deprived society has been empowered in the region.

Sinha underscored the growing economy of the region and said that the transformation of important sectors like Health, Education, Public Works, Urban and Rural development and Electricity over the last five-years has been unprecedented in the region’s history.

He said that the women, youth, and farmers have excelled themselves and are contributing to the sacred duty of nation building.

Sinha said that the strikes were now a thing of past and that the institutions like schools, colleges, and hospitals are functioning without any disturbances now.

He said that the UT has made sufficient progress especially in the areas of infrastructure development, tourism, industrialization, social security, employment generation, livelihood creation, public outreach, transparency and providing basic facilities.

The G20 Tourism Working Group Meeting opened new avenues for global partnership that helped in tapping the tourism potential of Jammu and Kashmir. J&K has recorded 2.11 Crore tourist visits during 2023 which is the highest ever, Sinha said.

“Our tourism initiatives have not only showcased the mesmerizing beauty of J&K but have also spotlighted our culture and heritage,” Sinha said.

To boost the industrial sector in J&K, effective policy and enabling environment has been created, he said as per the official handout.

Investment proposals worth Rs.1,26,582 Crore with expected employment potential of 4.74 lakh persons have also been received for setting up of industrial units in the UT, said the LG.
