Police Arrested Drug Peddler in Handwara; Contraband substance Recovered

Handwara : In a significant move to counter the growing menace of drug abuse, Handwara Police apprehended a suspected drug peddler from Devaspora Magam and seized contraband substances.

Police Party from Police Post Magam headed by the in-charge, conducted night patrolling in Devaspora Magam. During the course of checking, an individual identified as Zubair Sultan Lone, son of Mohammad Sultan Lone, a resident of Khanbal Handwara was intercepted due to his suspicious movement. During his search, 12 grams of heroin-like contraband substance was recovered from his possession on the spot.

Subsequently, the accused was taken to custody and a case under relevant legal provisions was registered in Police Station Handwara. Investigation of the instant case is currently underway to determine the source and network associated with the seized contraband.

Handwara Police emphasized upon general public to cooperate in the fight against drug-related crimes to get rid from the menace of drugs.
