Police arrests 4 ‘militant associates’ in Awantipora.

'Incriminating materials including arms, ammunition recovered'

Srinagar, Dec 21 : Police along with security forces arrested four ‘militant associates’ linked with proscribed militant outfit JeM and recovered incriminating materials including arms and ammunition from their possession.

“Acting on specific input, Awantipora police along with 50 RR and 110 BN CRPF apprehended 04 militant associates linked with proscribed militant outfit JeM. They have been identified as Zubair Gul son of Gh Mohd Ganie, Adil Fayaz Ganie son of Fayaz Ahmed Ganie, Basit Ali son of Ali Mohd Dar all residents of Samboora and Shahid Nabi Pandith son of Gh Nabi Pandith resident of Konibal Pampore. Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including pistol, hand grenade were recovered from their possession”, said a police spokesperson in a statement to GNS.

“During the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that the arrested militant associates were in touch with JeM commanders and were involved in transportation of arms and ammunition. Besides, they were providing shelter and other logistic support to the active militant operating in Samboora and Pampore areas of Awantipora”, the statement read.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Pampore and further investigation has been taken up, the statement concluded. (GNS)
