The District Police Kupwara held the Police Commemoration Day Parade today at the DPL Parade Ground, in remembrance of the police personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty between September 1, 2023, and August 31, 2024. The event was attended by senior officers from the District Administration, District Police, Armed Police, CRPF, BSF, and retired police officers from the District, along with the families of the police martyrs.

The parade was led by SSP Kupwara, Gh Jeelani Wani-JKPS, who read out the names of the police personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice during the period. A total of 216 police officers, including 7 from the J&K Police, were martyred while serving their respective forces.

During the ceremony, wreaths were laid at the Martyrs’ Memorial by officers and family members in honour of the fallen heroes. A two-minute silence was observed to pay tribute to their sacrifices.
Following the parade, SSP Kupwara and accompanying officers interacted with the families of the martyrs, offering words of comfort and support. As a token of gratitude for the sacrifices made by the martyrs and their families, blankets were distributed to the kins of the martyred police personnel from the District.
SSP Kupwara reaffirmed the commitment to the families of the martyrs and support in upholding the honour and sacrifice of those who laid down their lives for the nation.
