Kupwara : In a major step towards curbing the drug menace, Police Station Kralpora set up a routine checkpoint (Naka) at Reshigund. During the course of checking, one individual was apprehended after being found in possession of narcotic substances.
The accused has been identified as Umer Bashir, son of Bashir Ahmed Shah, a resident of vilgam Handwara aged approximately 26 years.
Upon conducting a search, police recovered a substantial quantity of a substance suspected to be brown sugar from his possession. In this connection, a case has been registered under FIR No. 37/2025 at Police Station Kralpora, under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act.
The investigation is currently underway to ascertain the source of the narcotics and to uncover any wider network involved in the illicit trade.
