Pulwama IED Case: Police Produces Chargesheet Against 08 Persons

Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it produced Chargesheet Against 8 persons in connection with Pulwama IED case in a court.

In a handout to the police said that it produced chargesheet in case FIR No. 65/2022 U/S 4/5 Explosive Substance Act, 18,20,23,39 UA(P) Act of Police Station Litter against 8 accused persons before the Hon’ble Court of Special Designated Court under NIA Act at Srinagar. The instant case is related to recovery of an IED at Armulla Lassipora on 16/06/2022.

According to police spokesman, On 16th june this year, Police Pulwama received information that an IED have been planted within the area of Police station Litter with the aim to inflict causalities on Police/security forces .Consequent upon this information, Pulwama Police swung into action and raided the said location and recovered an IED weighed about 15 kgs which was fitted in pressure cooker and also apprehended 02 accused persons. During course of investigation, the arrested accused persons confessed their crime and also disclosed the names of 05 more persons associated with Al-badr outfit for their active involvement and role in procuring/transporting of the said recovered IED. The timely recovery of the IED has thwarted untoward incident and has scuttled the nefarious plans of militant outfits to derail peace and harmony.

On the basis of evidence gathered offence punishable under relevant sections of law for commission of instant crime has been established. The investigation of the case concluded as charge sheet against 08 accused persons including one foreign militant Handler whose challan has been produced before the competent court of law, reads the statement.(GNS)
