Republic Day arrangements finalized at Kupwara.

KUPWARA, JANUARY 20: In order to ensure proper arrangements for ensuing Republic Day (RD) celebration in district Kupwara, the Deputy Commissioner (DC), Imam Din, today convened a meeting of all concerned officers, here and finalized the arrangements.

ASPs of Kupwara and Handwara, ACR, District and Sectoral Officers were present on the occasion, besides senior officers of BSF, CRPF and Police.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC stressed upon the officers to ensure hassle free arrangements for smooth conduct of the National Event and instructed them to maintain proper coordination and follow timeline for ensuring arrangements well in advance. He also directed them to follow protocol of COVID-19 strictly and ensure use of masks in the function.

The DC also stressed the need for maintaining protocol in seating arrangement and also issued directions to the police department for taking proper protocol of National Flag.

Earlier, the meeting was briefed about the programme and responsibilities of each officer and was informed that the main function of the Republic Day will be held at District Police Lines (DPL) Kupwara, where National Flag will be hoisted and the VIP will take salute on the March Past comprising the contingents of JKP, JKAP, CRPF, IRP, BSF, CRPF, FPP and Home Guard.

It was also informed that the function will start with Shahnai Vadan at 8.50 AM, whileas National Flag will be hoisted at 9.30 AM.

Entrusting the responsibilities for smooth conduct of the event, the DC asked R&B Department, Mechanical Engineering and Municipality Kupwara to ensure proper sanitation and cleanliness of the DPL ground. They were also directed to keep manpower available in case of snowfall on both days of rehearsal and main function.

Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) was directed to make seating arrangement of the function. While Power Development & PHE departments were directed to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply. CMO Kupwara was ordered to deploy doctors & paramedics along with Ambulance and first aid.

The police department was entrusted with security arrangements and the Information Department was asked to facilitate proper Public Addressing System and media coverage of the event. Police Department was asked to provide stand -by PAS while as SRTC was asked to make sufficient arrangements of vehicles.

Other arrangements including refreshment, deployment of magistrates, arrangement of cultural programmes, barricading, facility of commentators and availability of fire-tenders were also reviewed.

It was also given out in the meeting that Republic Day function will also be held at Handwara and Karnah subdivisions, in blocks, besides, in High and Higher Secondary schools and in all Government offices.

Deputy Commissioner also directed Officers to ensure their presence including staff in the Republic Day functions.
