New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday asked West Bengal Chief Secretary, DGP and Kolkata Police Commissioner to respond to the CBI’s contempt plea in the chit fund scam case by February 18 and posted the matter for further hearing on February 20.
The court ordered Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar to make himself available to the CBI and faithfully cooperate in the chit fund scam probe.
The top court also issued notice to the West Bengal Chief Secretary and Kolkata Police Commissioner on the CBI plea seeking initiation of contempt proceedings against them for allegedly detaining the probe agency’s men illegally on Sunday.
A three-judge Bench headed by CJI Ranjan Gogoi, however, said no coercive steps, including arrest would be taken against Kumar. (TNS)
