SHEW Shopian organises awareness prog on PCPNDT Act at Zainapora

SHOPIAN : Sankalp Hub for Empowerment of Women, (SHEW) Shopian, in collaboration with the Department of Health, organized an awareness programme on the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act under the banner of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao at Zainpora Hospital today.
Dr. Samiullah enlightened the audience about the PCPNDT Act, its legal implications, and the importance of preventing gender-based discrimination. He emphasized the critical role of stringent measures in curbing prenatal sex determination and promoting a balanced gender ratio.
District Mission Coordinator sankalp hub highlighted the importance of women’s empowerment and the protection of the girl child, urging collective efforts to ensure their education, health, and rights.
Sankalp Hub Gender Specialist, provided valuable insights into various government welfare schemes designed for the upliftment and welfare of women and girls. Participants were educated on the multiple opportunities and support systems available to empower women at different stages of life.
The programme concluded with a collective pledge to uphold the rights of the girl child and ensure their empowerment through education, awareness, and legal enforcement.
