Shopian : In a heartening development, SSP Shopian Miss Tanushree, along with Deputy Superintendent of Police Javeed Ahmad and a team of officers, made a visit to Tirth Raj Kapal Mochan, the oldest Shiva temple nestled on the banks of Rambiara Nallah in Shopian district. This revered site holds immense importance as thousands of Kashmiri Pandits annually flock here for religious observances, including Shraad ceremonies.
During their visit, Senior Superintendent of Police Tanushree and DYSP Javeed Ahmad engaged with the devoted Pandits at the temple, sharing prayers for peace and prosperity in Shopian and the entire valley. The visiting Pandits expressed deep gratitude and joy, praising Shopian police for facilitating their pilgrimage and providing essential support.
Remarkably, after a hiatus of 35 years due to the turmoil in the region, these Kashmiri Pandits have embarked on a journey from various parts of India and even abroad to reconnect with their spiritual heritage. The temple is believed to house ancient religious artifacts left by Lord Shiva himself, lending an air of sacredness to the site.
Rajtarangini, a historical text by Kalhana Pandit dating back to 1147, chronicles the intriguing history of this temple. Both Shopian police and the local community extend a warm invitation to those who have not visited the temple since the onset of the unrest in Kashmir. This invitation underscores the positive transformation the region has undergone in various aspects.
