Sopore: The Division of Agriculture Extension & Communication, Faculty of Agriculture, SKUAST-K, conducted a one-day Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme focused on “Entrepreneurship Opportunities for Rural Youth in Agriculture and Allied Sectors” at the Vegetable Cluster in Arampora, Sopore.
The event, held under the MSME initiative, aimed to foster innovative practices in vegetable cultivation and address the challenges faced by farmers in the sector.
The programme featured expert speakers including Dr. Farooq Ahmad Bhat (Assistant Professor Pathology), Dr. Shafeeq Ahmad Hakeem (Assistant Professor Entomology), Dr. Imtiyaz Ahmad (Professor Fruit Science), Dr. Rakshanda Anayat (Associate Professor Vegetable Science), Dr. Syed Shafiat Kubrive (Assistant Professor Agriculture Extension), and Dr. Parvaiz Ahmad Budroo (Circle Officer, Vegetable Cluster).
They shared valuable insights on disease management, integrated pest control, modern cultivation techniques, and entrepreneurial opportunities in agriculture, particularly in the walnut sector.
Dr. Quadri Javeed Ah. Peer, Programme Coordinator, welcomed participants and emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship in agricultural startups. The event saw active participation from local farmers, students, and extension workers, engaging in discussions and gaining knowledge on practical solutions for sustainable agricultural development.
