Stalls of ethnic food, dried vegetables; colourful cultural programs attract good gathering

BUDGAM : Celebrating the arrival of spring, the Tourism Department of Kashmir in collaboration with District Administration Budgam today organised a daylong Spring Festival programme at picturesque Karewas at Nagam in Budgam.

The open air function was held amidst Almond blossoms in full bloom orchards, attracting a large gathering to the venue.

On the occasion, SDM Chadoora, Prince Noorul Hamid said that Budgam has huge potential for tourism and all efforts are being made for promoting and publicity of these destinations.

He said the District Administration Budgam has been providing all support for tourism promotion of all destinations in the district.

On the occasion, Deputy Director Tourism, Kashmir Waseem Malik said that the aim of organising these festivals is to enrich and promote tourism related products and offbeat destinations in the valley.

He said that besides promoting Tourism at National and International markets, the Tourism department has decided to celebrate every season to woo more and more tourists to the Valley.

He said that in Budgam both Yousmarg and Doodhpathri remained open across the winter season, receiving both local as well domestic tourists in good numbers.

He appreciated both Doodpathri and Yousmarg Development Authorities for working tirelessly in promoting these destinations.

On the occasion, various stalls showcasing local ethnic street food, local teas, bread varieties, dry fruits particularly almond and walnut varieties and dried vegetables were set up.

Enthralling the audience with their scintillating performances, various musicians and local singers performed and presented folk music on the occasion.

Among others, SDM Chadoora, Prince Noorul  Hamid, Deputy Director Tourism Wasim Malik ,SDPO,Tehsildar, Assistant Director Tourism, and prominent citizens from various adjoining villages, and students from various schools were present on the occasion.
