BANDIPORA : The Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmed, who is also District Election Officer (DEO), Monday, chaired a meeting of officers to review the preparations for holding Special Summary Revision (SSR) of urban areas for the municipal polls in the district.

The meeting was informed that the SSR shall start from the Ist of August with 1st July 2023 as the qualifying date. The DC stressed upon concerned to work in tandem and take concrete steps on maximum registration of the new eligible voters. He asked the concerned officers to intensify the efforts for fulfilling all targets of SSR.

Dr Owais directed the officers to hold special registration camps on 6th of August and 10th of August at respective polling stations of three urban local bodies of the district including Municipal Committees of Hajin and Sumbal besides Municipal Council Bandipora.

The officers and officials associated with the SSR were exhorted to work with dedication and devotion to ensure that the exercise is completed within the stipulated period of time with 100 percent enrolment of eligible people who have attained the prescribed age of voting. He directed BLOs to conduct house to house surveys to ensure all eligible voters are enrolled.

The DEO directed Dy.DEO, EROs and AEROs to gear up BLOs of their respective areas for the purpose.

He also stressed on enhanced awareness activities under SVEEP and directed EROs, AEROs to coordinate with Dy.DEO and College authorities of the district for organizing Registration Camps, intensified SVEEP activities and to conduct door to door surveys.

The meeting was attended by Dy. CEO, Electoral Registration Officer, Nodal Officer Coordination, Joint Director Planning, Deputy Election Officer, SDM Sumbal, Tehsildar Bandipora, DIO Bandipora and other concerned officers.
