Kupwara : As part of Environment Week celebrations, summer camps were successfully concluded across various educational institutions in District Kupwara. These camps, organized by the School Education Department, focused on seven key activities aimed at promoting environmental awareness and sustainability. The activities included adopting a healthy lifestyle, adopting a sustainable food system, reducing e-waste, reducing waste, saving energy, saving water, and saying no to single-use plastics.
Chief Education Officer of Kupwara, Ab Majeed Dar, personally monitored the summer camps, visiting numerous educational institutions to engage with students and teachers. His active involvement underscored the importance of these initiatives and encouraged widespread participation.
District Coordinator for CEW, Rayees Masroor, reported that more than 120,000 students, teachers, and community members from various education zones, including the border areas of Keran, Machil, and Tanghdar, took part in the summer camps with remarkable enthusiasm. This large-scale participation highlights the community’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
CEO kupwara,Ab Majeed Dar commended the dedicated efforts of the cluster heads, Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs), school heads, teachers, and especially the Zonal Coordinators of the CEW, who diligently submitted daily action reports to the CEW for submission to Directorate office. Their collective effort ensured the smooth execution of the summer camps and the effective dissemination of environmental knowledge.
The culmination of the summer camps featured an essay competition, in which students participated with great enthusiasm, showcasing their understanding and commitment to the environmental themes discussed during the camps.
