Swachhta Hi Seva: RDD, Shopian conducts Cleanliness Drive at Ali-Abad Sarie, Peer Ki Gali

SHOPIAN : Under the Swachhta Pakhwada campaign and on the occasion of World Tourism Day, the Department of Rural Development, Shopian today organised a cleanliness drive at Alia Abad Sarai, lying on the Famous Mughal Road, near Peer ki Gali Pass.

The sanitation drive was led by Assistant Commissioner, Panchayat, Shopian, Manzoor Ahmad and Block Development Officer, Shopian, Qadeer Charak.

Staff of the Rural Development Department and Panchayat Raj along with scores of PRIs and civil society members took part in the drive and committed towards sanitation cause at multiple locations near the tourist site.

The rally was also taken out on the Mughal Road and people were sensitised about the issue of sanitation for overall health and wellness.

Officers,  Officials, PRIs, civil society members  also took a pledge to keep the surroundings clean, and pledged towards making the district garbage free by dumping all the wastage in specified/ designated places.

On this occasion, ACP and BDO administered the pledge to the participants on Swachhta Pakhwada and urged them to act as the ambassadors of the cleanliness campaign in their areas, which commenced from Sept, 15 and shall continue up to Oct. 02.

The campaign is aimed to promote cleanliness and to create and contribute towards a cleaner and healthier environment.
