To boost tourism, maiden winter carnival to be held in Kupwara

DC says preparations for grand event going on

Kupwara : The district administration Kupwara kick started preparation for the smooth conduct of maiden Winter Carnival in the district to boost the winter tourism.

An official told  that SnowMobile, ice-skating, trekking expeditions and other snow sports activities will be the main attraction and part of this Winter Carnival.

He said Kupwara has huge tourism potential and is embroidered by scenic beauty, mountains and the initiative of organizing this winter carnival is to promote winter tourism activities in unexplored scenic places like in Bangus and Lolab Valley

“The festival comprising several number of snow activities, which will be held at multiple locations, however, TP Drungyari will be the main venue of the winter carnival 2022 Kupwara. The festival will be held in first week of January,” he said.

Meanwhile, deputy commissioner Kupwara, Doifode Sagar Dattatray said that the winter carnival will be organized in the district very soon and preparations for same are going on.

He said priority will be given to the local youth to run the program so that they can also earn employment for themselves through such programs.

“TP Drungyari has been identified, where a ring is being prepared for ice skating and we are also identifying other locations for several other activities,” he said.

He also said that the long term tourism activities will be started in the district during this winter and administration is preparing for the same. (KNS)
