Srinagar: A young entrepreneur from Jammu & Kashmir has urged the Honorable Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir to help him get an immediate release of a long-pending payment despite his numerous efforts to get the issue solved over four years.

The entrepreneur, having already done an MBA from Amity University and very soon had started a business to produce employment in the district, was appointed at the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic to supply baby kits to the DPO, ICDS Baramulla. The kits were supplied as a part of a project with full approval from the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Baramulla to mark International Girl Child Day.

Now the kit has been sent and distributed but still the concerned payment is not released. The entrepreneur has used all resources: concerned letter writings to several concerned officials many times but yet not getting any kind of favourable response. This was further taken to Lok Adalat in December, 2022, an unequivocal award was made where the concerned officers were summoned to pay the remittance within a period of 30 days. Well, the amount is still pending.

Adding to the complexity of the situation is that the newly inducted DPO, Mr. Yaar Ali Khan (JKAS), has shown no interest in redressing the grievance. He has refused to redress the grievance even after repeated attempts from the entrepreneur and has even rolled back the progress made by the previous DPO, who had diligently ensured that the payment was processed.

It is at the execution stage in the District Court, Baramulla, and the entrepreneur believes that there will be another delay if the authorities keep on evading their responsibility.

The entrepreneur has now approached the Chief Minister to request him to instruct the Secretary of Law and the Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare Department, to intervene and make sure the payment is made promptly. They have also requested officials responsible for the delay and harassment, particularly Mr. Yaar Ali Khan, JKAS, be brought to book for their roles.

According to him, such delays not only harm the individuals but also undermine the commitment of the government towards the young entrepreneurs and creating a conducive business environment in Jammu & Kashmir.
