YSS Ganderbal celebrates ‘Environmental Week’ across District

GANDERBAL : The YSS Ganderbal is celebrating ‘Environmental Week’ with a variety of events being held across the district including painting competitions held today in Zone Tullamulla.
The painting competition was organized with the theme ‘Restoring Ecosystems.’ The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from various schools within Zone Tullamulla.
The theme emphasized ‘land restoration, stopping desertification, and enhancing drought resilience,’ encapsulated by the slogan ‘Our Land, Our Future.’
The District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Ganderbal raised awareness among students about critical environmental issues, highlighting the need for sustainable living and the adverse effects of environmental degradation.
In addition to the painting competition, inter-school zonal level sports competitions were held across different zones of the district.
The scenic ground of the Zone Kangan in Kijpara Kangan hosted an inter-school football competition for boys under 19 years. Around 75 enthusiastic students participated in the event.
In the final match, BHSS Kangan emerged victorious over BHSS Manigam in a thrilling finish. Senior officials felicitated both finalist teams with trophies during the presentation ceremony.
Similarly, in the U-17 Handball Competition, Zone Hariganiwan conducted an inter-school handball competition for boys under 17 years at the BHSS Hariganiwan ground.
The event saw significant participation, and all matches were seamlessly organized by the field officials. BHSS finalist teams were honored with trophies by senior officials during the presentation ceremony.
