In a post on X, the White Knight Corps said, as per the news agency, that the operation, code-named Operation Sohan, was launched during the intervening night of September 16 and 17 after confirmed inputs about the presence of terrorists in the general area of Brattal.

“Despite hostile weather, difficult terrain and poor visibility, troops of White Knight Corps, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF launched a targeted counter-terrorism operation, resulting in the neutralisation of two terrorists,” it said.

The Army said arms and ammunition were also recovered from the encounter site.

It said the operation is still in progress, with search and surveillance operations underway in the area to track any remaining threat. The identities of the slain terrorists are being ascertained.

Earlier on Wednesday evening, security forces had opened fire after noticing suspicious movement in the Majalta area, following which searches were launched and vigilance intensified.—(KNO)
