Srinagar, Dec 06 : 59th Raising day of Homeguards/Civil Defence was celebrated on Monday at Divisional Commandant Home Guards Headquarter Bemina Srinagar.
Divisional Commandant Homeguards Kashmir read the messages of President of Republic of India Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, Home Minister of India Amit Shah, Lieutenant Governor of UT of J&K Manoj Sinha, Home Secretary Govt of India Ajay Bhalla, Chief Secretary of J&K Dr Arun Kumar Mehta, Principal Secretary to Govt Home Deptt. J&K Shaleen Kabra, Director General Fire Services/ Civil Defence & Homeguards Govt of India Taj Hassan, Director General of Police J&K Dilbag Singh, Commandant General HG/CD/SDRF J&K Danesh Rana.
On the occasion, a ceremonial parade, as per a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), was presented by the volunteers of Homeguards/Civil Defence.
Firdous Iqbal Divisional Commandant Homeguards Kashmir took the salute on the occasion. The duties & responsibilities of HG/CD volunteers as first responders in Disaster Management and mitigation were highlighted on the occasion besides the role of HG volunteers in rescue and Disaster Management was appreciated, as volunteers have been performing selflessly in the testing times.
Their role during natural calamities in assisting civil administration as well as Police administration particularly in traffic regulation, Haj/Yatra duties and their challenging duties during Covid-19 have been acknowledged and appreciated by all the dignitaries in their respective messages—(KNO)
