In Ladhoo Pampore, Pulwama Kashmir, the annual Urs of Alamdar-e-Kashmir (Sheikh ul Alam RA) is set to be celebrated from 26 to 28 November 2024, offering a profound opportunity to honour the legacy of one of Kashmir’s most revered Sufi saints, poets, mystics, and Islamic preachers. Sheikh ul Alam’s life and teachings resonate deeply within Kashmir’s spiritual and cultural fabric. His profound influence, steeped in mysticism and devotion, continues to guide and inspire generations. Ladhoo holds a special place in this spiritual narrative, as the saint spent 12 transformative years in seclusion within a sacred cave here. This cave, a hallowed site for pilgrims, houses an indelible relic (a handprint engraved on stone) symbolising divine grace and Sheikh ul Alam’s spiritual journey.

The Urs, an annual commemoration, breathes life into the village of Ladhoo with a blend of devotion, tradition, and cultural harmony. This year’s celebrations will begin on the evening of 25 November, with sacred rituals such as Khatmat-Al-Mu’azimat, Naat Khawani, and Manqabat filling the atmosphere with spiritual fervour. These ceremonies, continuing until the Isha prayer on 28 November, offer moments of introspection and connection with the saint’s timeless teachings.
Adding a unique dimension to the Urs is its concurrence with the saffron harvest season, an event that enriches the occasion with the Ladhoo’s cultural and seasonal essence. This convergence of spirituality and nature’s bounty enhances the celebration’s allure, weaving a vibrant tapestry of devotion and cultural heritage. Pilgrims and devotees gather not just to pay homage but to immerse themselves in the spiritual sanctity and rich traditions associated with Sheikh ul Alam’s life.
The Shrine Admin Committee extends a heartfelt invitation to all, welcoming them to partake in this immersive experience set against the serene backdrop of Ladhoo’s natural beauty.
