Opinion | First Day of Census 2027 House Listing Operations Phase at Tehsil Boniyar A Journey of Responsibility, Coordination and Public Service

My first day in House Listing Operations for the Census 2027 at Tehsil Boniyar marked an eventful chapter in My career. It is indeed an honor and a challenge to have been assigned the duty of Incharge Census Operations at Tehsil Boniyar. The census operation is one of the biggest administrative exercises of the country. It needs accuracy, commitment, team work and coordination. I had to look into the aspect of smooth implementation of House Listing operations that commenced today for the entire month of June 2026 and considered it as my biggest responsibility to ensure the smooth conduct of this month long exercise at the grass root level.

I reached Tehsil Office Boniyar quite early this morning so as to be able to facilitate field functionaries and attend their queries relating to census activities. There were a few issues that needed attention on a priority basis like Layout Map preparations. A correctly and meticulously prepared layout map is the prerequisite of successful house listing operations for the identification of a House Listing block so that coverage is ensured and each house within it is enumerated correctly.

During morning hours approximately twenty enumerators had gathered at Tehsil office Boniyar to seek clarifications about various aspects of layout map preparation and it was nice meeting them personally to make them aware of technical requirements, procedures, methods for making layout maps. Their eagerness to perform their duty well made Me realize the importance of their contribution to this National Assignment.

The most memorable part of the day was a visit to one of the jurisdiction blocks of mine House Listing Block Namely Rather Mohalla Boniyar by worthy Tehsildar and Charge Census Officer Boniyar along with Me. Their visit made All the field functionaries enthusiastic about their work and proved to be an important motivator.

Since 09:30 A.M. My mobile phone didn’t take rest, call by call, Supervisors and Enumerators called to discuss problems related to data entry in digital application, procedures of house listing operations, layout map preparations, structure identification and all other sorts of operational procedures of census operations in Tehsil Boniyar and it was worth making Me call it a privileged duty because all these calls reflected the devotion and concern of the field functionaries toward this prestigious job of National level. During the day I got an opportunity to redressed about 160 grievances and operational issues submitted by the field functionaries of the census operations within Tehsil Boniyar and by now the whole list of queries and issues submitted by the field functionaries stand settled.

What made Me more happy was the devotion and sincerity of Supervisors and Enumerators who performed their duties to the best of their abilities even if they had to go extra mile to overcome the obstacles posed by the difficult topography and terrain during the field operations on their respective houses listing blocks. Their calls throughout the day showed the eagerness of the field functionaries to make their job precise.

The introduction of digital application in census operations has definitely changed the process the data collection is much faster, accurate and transparent. However it has also led to some technical issues that need regular monitoring and continuous support from Incharge Census Operations and therefore effectively managing such a communication network has now become an integral part of the entire process.

It’s the team work which has been the essence of Census Operations. Thankfully I Am fortunate enough to be working with a diligent team of Supervisors and Enumerators in Tehsil Boniyar which has really made their presence in this National Assignment felt. They are quite disciplined, efficient and responsible. The goals for house listing operations will be achieved within the specified time.

Leadership during Census Operations involves much more than only supervision it takes patience, willingness and effort to lend support and assist All field functionaries as and when needed. Leadership is All about how well one is able to support his subordinates. This first day helped Me to gather new experiences regarding coordination and team work which indeed boosted My confidence.

Though the task ahead is challenging but the fervor shown by My teams assured Me that every obstacle will be cleared and we all would definitely be able to cover each and every house under My Charge for Census 2027 without any omission and commission.

I Am highly grateful to All Supervisors and Enumerators Who really burnt midnight oil for carrying out this National Assignment in such an excellent manner. They are indeed the backbone of Census Operations at Tehsil Boniyar and I Acknowledge their contribution with immense gratitude and honor. I will ensure that All the rievances of each field functionary are solved timely so that the house listing operations are performed in the most efficient manner and in stipulated period of time.

It gives Me a firm conviction that Our team of Supervisors and Enumerators are gems in themselves. I really feel proud to have such devoted people to do this important and Noble Job. They are the true pillar of success of Census 2027 in Tehsil Boniyar.
