The Digital India initiative is aiming at improving the online infrastructure and enhancing the internet. Digital programme of India was launched in July 2015 to transform India Into digitally enabled and knowledge based economy. The aim of the programme was to develop the better lives of the average citizen. In contemporary times it is considered as the backbone of every sector. The aim of digital India is to make it accessible, affordable and useful to average citizens. The adoption of computers and other aspects of digital technology have transformed how humans interact with their environment, these changes continue to the day. The father of Computer Charles Babbage in the late 19th century and as well as that of telegraph is believed to have accelerated the Digital Revolution. Digital Revolution is meant for the conversion of analog technology to that of digital technology. Talking of an economic impact of digital revolution without conceiving of internet globalization would not be a feasible venture in today’s world. The Revolution altered the way individuals and companies interacted with each other. Small and medium enterprises today have access to large markets of the world. The adoption of digital technology has resulted in a boost in productivity and its allied activities.
India is one of the biggest and fastest growing digital markets in the world. Digital revolution has given considerable benefits to society at large. Power of communication and information sharing has greatly expanded with it. The awareness programmes, speeches, ceremonies, recruitment etc and Pariksha Pe Charcha programme in which the PM of India interacted with the thousands of students and question and answer sessions were conducted became possible due the progress in the field of digital technology. With increase of technical advances the digital revolution has created demand for new job skills. The biggest challenge that India has today is how the government reaches the last person in the queue and what India has done through the digital revolution. In 2026 India will have the largest pool of human capital in technology in the world.
India’s digital revolution has benefited the country to great extent. With the technological revolution the Direct Benefit Transfer system came into existence as well as the digital payment system. The Digital India is an initiative to expand e-governance providing individuals with access to government entities expanding digital infrastructure across the country connecting India’s through the internet. The internet is absolutely a blessing as it has revolutionized the whole scenario. The internet is a knowledge hub where information is just a click away. Schools and colleges have also been upgraded with technological advancements and a lot of students have benefited from it. Looking at technological advancement, online shopping has made a new transition as well. People working in many government office’s select their choice of material at home through online is possible only with help of the internet and technological advancement. People living in the far-flung areas are connected with the rest of the country or their relatives with the help of technological revolution. To continue with India’s digital revolution momentum, the government has announced further reforms including to boost semiconductor and manufacturing. India’s digital will cause a paradigm shift for India and its economy. With the help of public private partnership favourable government policies, innovative reforms, rising income, India can become the fastest growing digital economy.
The awareness of the importance of technology has been successfully created among the masses of India by digital India campaign. There has been vast growth in the usage of the internet and technology in the past few years. It is an initiative taken by the government of India to provide government services to citizens electronically, create digital literate citizens and eventually transform India into a digitally empowered economy. The department of Education has recently introduced the JK Teachers Attendance Ap. which aims to check the punctuality of the officials working in the department which is also a sign of technological innovation in India. If we take an example of the recruitment board which is also considering conducting its different exams digitally. The cashless economy concept is also a part of the digital revolution. The main aim of this is to secure, preserve the cash of the citizens while travelling miles from one place to another. It will be a profitable approach because it relieves the burden of spending time on paperwork and allows people to dictate their time to other aspects of government. It is extremely efficient and beneficial for government employees who operate on a big scale. Basically digital infrastructure could help achieve the overall development. The country where the less focus is given on the technology, the less development the country is facing. With the help of the digital revolution several schemes have been launched like e-health, e-education, National Scholarship Portal, Digital Locker etc. This program is such which would benefit both consumers and the providers of the services. Free Wifi will be available in 2.4 lakh schools under various schemes so that students may work online without any difficulty. Digital India has considerably reduced the distance between government and citizens. It has helped the delivery of substantial services directly to the beneficiary in a transparency and corruption free manner. The online booking, deliveries, shopping, transfer of payments has become easier, safe and secure with the introduction of digital technology. India has emerged as one of the pre-eminent nations of the world to use technology to transform the lives of the citizens. Digital India is an umbrella programme that covers multiple projects.
