The advancement of technology has been phenomenal in the last few years, be it Employees Performance Monitoring Portal (EPM) Bio metric (BM) attendance and Smart Attendance System (SAS) . All these initiatives in the education department has so for proved it to a boon, though it shows technical glitches at the initial stage later it seemed to be one of the important and necessary tool in the education department to monitor and track attendances.Almost all the departments either switched to smart attendance or might be switching in the near future.The manual system is rapidly vanishing. Before we consider the long term consequences of technology both positive and negative , we must comprehend why it is so crucial in our daily lives. Post Covid Educational institutions are adopting touchless technologies such as Smart attendance system.Technology is life line for mankind, without it survival is impossible.The pandemic emphasizes its importance even more. We must learn to adapt to technology because it is an important aspect of our lives. We must accept the benefits while minimizing the drawbacks because technology is undoubtedly a two edged sword. Technology has grown at rapid speed. Technology change in our life is a continuous thing. Over the period of time new technology is emerging and our lifestyle is becoming affected by that. One or more technologies are being replaced by other new technologies and technological revolution happens. Technology helps human beings to do new things or do something smoothly in their day to day life. The effects of technology are present in every sector of human life like communication, living, education, and smart attendance.
The smart attendance system is undoubtedly proving to be a successful tool in the education department with each passing day.We should be impartial towards their punctuality.But here we can not rule out the contribution of the teacher in making the nation strong. And we should not be doubted for their dedication,determination,
Here I mention my teachers who made us what we are today, like Mr. Gh. Ahmad Kumar,Mr Farooq Ahmed Shah (Iqbal)my basic teachers at Primary and Middle School darpora, Sonannar who taught us general Science,Kashmiri numbers,etc.teaching us moral and ethical lessons as well. He used to teach the moral and ethical values in the class. Teaching is absolutely a noble profession.They teach us values, morals,ethics,and discipline.In addition they also guide students through their academic journey. They are the ones who inspire young minds to achieve great things.So teachers/Gurus has been the real heros in building and developing the personality of an individual.Commenting on the tech-savvy the government first introduced the Bio-metric in which finger identification is mandatory for all the employees.Then EPM portal which requires the employees ID and password in the browser,the details of an employee as well as the details of his DDO is displayed. The EPM portal has been designed and deployed in order to capture the monthly work performance of the employees officers of the Government of jammu and Kashmir and the appraisal thereof by their respective reporting officers. This performance is being submitted on the 7th of every month about the days being spent in the school field work, and many more. Then the concerned DDO after checking the official’s request first reviewed it,cheking its content and then entered the percentage after getting satisfied over the work and conduct of a teacher. Whosoever fails to do so is accountable before the Drawing Officer.Such initiatives of the government received the praises from the general public in order to bring the punctuality among the teaching staff. If any official fails to submit their activities on EPM portal he or she may be considered as inefficient/truancy or absent.There may also be the black sheep in the department who may be cheating or deceiving by some other way, but they will be soon taken to the task. Later the government introduced the Smart Attendance which demands the pure punctuality of all the staff including non -teaching as well by showing it face identification two times like Checkin and Checkout. Initially it shows too many glitches now as we are moving ahead there seems to be less technical glitches in it. Majority of the teaching fraternity praises this move to stop the unnecessary activities of its employees. Public held this initiative as a game changer in the department. The officials claim the connectivity problem while marking their attendance, such things must be addressed to make it easy. Others claim that they don’t have smart phone Or they face problems while attending online, but those at the helm of affairs are responsible to amicably deal with such cases.
With the introduction of Smart Attendance System late arrivals, departures as well as absenteeism can be easily monitored and tracked. Besides tracking in and out times it can also maintain every student’s daily, monthly and yearly attendance data. These can be tracked and long periods of absenteeism can be dealt with. In the present situation maintaining a Manual Attendance System is too complex and time consuming. An efficient smart attendance management system can be used to improve the organizational ethics and work culture. The enrollment of employees in the system is a one time process and their face will be stored in the database. The automated attendance management system can detect a person’s face using a digital real time image. The presence of each employee is updated in the database daily and the results are more accurate in a user interactive manner. The system can be configured in mobile devices and the managers can have a track of employees location if required. The Smart Attendance System(SAS) automates and streamlines employee scheduling with multiple features.
Under the Smart Attendance System face recognition system can be used to manage the employee attendance that detects human face in milliseconds with high speed matching functionality. Real time control panels are provided to the monitoring person for verification of matched faces with the storage image. The Smart Attendance System saves a lot of time and money and is a highly secure process in maintaining the database on the server. The modern educational environments require building an integrated system from provisioning of educational resources in all forms, as well as paying attention to the way to access them. This is where smart attendance comes in. The smart attendance system helps in increasing the accuracy and speed ultimately to achieve the high-precision and real time attendance and its evaluation process.The importance of (SAS) is real time tracking. The mobile devices and personal computers can help in tracking employee attendance in an efficient method. The importance of (SAS) is that it can be helpful in the management of enormous data and improves authentication and security. The conventional attendance system requires a team of people and manually marks attendance. Not only does this method take a long time, but it also presents the risk of proxy attendance. A smart Attendance management system reduces the proxy attendance. The technology behind the smart attendance system is based on facial recognition technology. With accurate clocks in smartphones, it can provide highly accurate data.Smart Attendance system is designed to solve the issues of existing manual systems. We have used the face recognition concept to mark the attendance of teachers and make the system better. The system performs satisfactorily in different poses and variations. So the most effective way to track attendance without any irregularities is to adopt a smart attendance system. This kind of system is highly convenient.
