Some years ago, the OPD tickets we were served in the hospitals used to be written with a pen. Later, the government introduced an online ticketing system; however, the long queues of waiting patients for the collection of tickets were still there. In the recent past, the government has taken another historical and appreciable step in this regard by introducing Scan and Share QR code method; now patients availing of this facility don’t have to wait in long queues for the collection of tickets. Saving the time of patients, the procedure only includes downloading an app on your phone (EKA CARE or ABHA), filling out some necessary details, and scanning the QR code, which shares their details with the hospital. All this procedure takes just a few minutes.
Digitalisation, with its advances, has brought numerous benefits. The facility has reduced our work time from hours to minutes. For instance, before the advent of the online money transfer system, we used to see long queues of tired people waiting for the collection of cash in the banks, but today we can transfer even a single rupee with our phone. With the advancement in science and technology, we have better access to education online, and we can fill out forms while at home. Analogous to these examples, the scan and share method for the collection of tickets is our sign of being a modern and digitally advanced nation.
We are the luckiest, but most responsible generation of Indian history. Because, We are born in an era when India has assumed great importance at the international level in every aspect. Having said this, we cannot resist digitalisation. It is true that initially we may face trouble switching to the Scan and Share method for ticket collection because we may not know how to use the app. But, after all, we are going to cross another milestone in our journey to become completely digital.
Benefits: The online scan and share method for ticket collection has numerous benefits. Firstly, it saves our time, and secondly, it saves our records, which is one of the most important benefits of the scan and share method. The health record of the citizens saved in the JK-Sehaj can be considered the most authentic, and when policymakers have the data about the health of people, it can help them frame policies that are even more beneficial. Thirdly, it is a sign of being a modern nation because we are the citizens of a nation that is becoming an inspiration for the whole world. I would conclude by appreciating the policymakers for such a historical step. (The write-up is co-authored by Arbaz Bhat)
