You lose the war when you lose moral and ethical support, and Pakistan has lost both in Kashmir due to their long-standing violence and terrorism.
The face of terrorism is changing day by day, but terrorism in JK has not been completely eliminated. There is a significant change in the narrative of radicalization, and terrorism that occurs due to radicalization has been at its lowest ebb. The recent decline in terrorism is due to tough laws and a high-alert security cover. The present scenario regarding terrorism is totally different from the militancy pre-abrogation. Before abrogation, militants were receiving huge support, shelter, and financing. Now, the situation is totally different due to the laws and transformation in circumstances—such as reduced violence, development, and progress—which have made terrorism irrelevant.
De-radicalization in Kashmir has made people aware of the causes and consequences of terrorism, and due to the biased behaviour of extremists, common people have lost trust and started moving away from such thinking. The recent change in the environment has altered the mindset of the common people, who do not want to derail their position of peace, progress, and prosperity.
The rejection and objection of the Kashmiri people towards terrorism have forced Pakistan to form new forms of terrorism. This is due to the failure of their ideology and narrative in Kashmir. Their biggest failure is that today they have failed to get support, assistance, and shelter in Kashmir, and most importantly, they have lost reputation and trust. Today, people are reporting the presence of terrorists and denying them shelter and assistance. You lose the war when you lose moral and ethical support, and Pakistan has lost both in Kashmir due to their long-standing violence and terrorism.
Religion cannot always be a tool to deceive people, and today religious scholars have stated that it is terrorism in Kashmir and that people should denounce it in all its forms. The previous form of terrorism has failed, and the Indian Army has played a significant role in eliminating terrorism and its ideology. Credit also goes to the think tanks in India who have strategized in such a way that people have been provided with security, safety, peace, and prosperity. Nevertheless, we should not forget how security forces have faced unidentified terrorists in JK, eliminated them, and safeguarded the future generation of Kashmir. Undoubtedly, there is a huge sacrifice from security forces, civilians, and people who fight for their community in Kashmir.
The snake is not dead; there are still people who feed milk to the snake and help in the new form of terrorism sponsored by Pakistan. But it will not survive because it has lost its oxygen. People have witnessed the old forms of terrorism, understood their causes and effects, and are now mature enough to resist any new form of terrorism. Instead, they are working in direct opposition to it and are reporting terrorists, which is why it is not vibrant.
It is noteworthy to mention that after being defeated in all forms of terrorism in Kashmir, Pakistan has started new forms of terrorism, mostly outside Kashmir. The country that has used its army for terrorist activities in Kashmir reflects its standards. That is why India is calling for Pakistan to be considered for blacklisting among terrorist countries.
The new forms of terrorism are narco-terrorism and social media terrorism. In both forms, terrorism is achieving two things: carrying finance and arms in an easy way. How? Firstly, by supplying drugs and making youth dependent on them, then using them for their own interests. It is very easy because a single person can carry millions of rupees in terms of drugs. So, drugs and arms have both become easy for Pakistan to supply. The involvement of all the manpower is based on funding and drugs. Locals affiliated with terrorism are using small arms, while Pakistani SSG is conducting larger attacks. The question is: how do we deal with it?
Dealing with Pakistan requires not only the support of the Kashmiri people but also tight border vigilance. Second, we need to combat the SSG who come to Kashmir to incite terrorism. It is not possible, in any way, for common people in Kashmir to support terrorism, given Pakistan’s instability and the change in the mindset of Kashmiris. So, this last resort of terrorism sponsored by Pakistan is on its deathbed and needs to be taken seriously by security agencies in order to keep the present environment more favourable and vibrant.
