KUPWARA : On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, the District Election Office Kupwara today organized a mega Awareness-cum-Enrolment Camp under SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation), for specially-abled persons at Town Hall, Kupwara.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kupwara, Ghulam Nabi Bhat presided over the programme. District Information Officer Kupwara, Iftakhar Naseem; Election Staff, besides, a large gathering of Persons with Disabilities attended the programme.
The programme was aimed to enhance awareness, accessibility, and participation of Persons with Disabilities (PWD) in the electoral process, ensuring inclusivity in the democratic framework.
The ADC Kupwara in his address said that the Government is providing special facilities to the specially-abled persons to exercise their right to vote. He appealed to the participants to come forward for registration and be conscious of their rights in the electoral process.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the District Information Officer who is Nodal Officer for SVEEP said that PWD constitute a significant portion of our society and their voices deserve to be heard just as much as anyone else’s. To achieve this, it is crucial to raise awareness about the availability of AMF among PWD voters so that they can have pleasant and dignified polling experience.
He also elaborated the AMF and other privileges available to PWD voters throughout the electoral process, starting from registration up to casting vote.
Various stakeholders including officials from Election Office, Social Welfare Department provided thorough awareness to the participants about the registration process under SSR-2023. They also highlighted the benefits of getting registered as a voter.
Meanwhile, Pamphlets regarding the registration process under SSR-2023 and Form-6 were also distributed among the participants
