Awareness programme under SVEEP held at GDC Handwara

HANDWARA : Government Degree College (GDC), Handwara in collaboration with Handwara administration today organized an awareness programme under SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) to create mass awareness among citizens about the importance of their participation in the upcoming Assembly Election-2024. The Programme was conducted at GDC Handwara under the auspices of the Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines and included several informative sessions and interactive activities to engage the participants.

The event was attended by faculty members, officials, general public and a large number of students. On the occasion, students of different educational institutions performed various skits and threw light on the importance and casting of votes.
Meanwhile, under the SVEEP Programme, a live demonstration was organized by SDRF Kupwara at GDC Handwara during which the students and other participants were sensitized about various techniques of disaster management and mitigation of disasters.
On the occasion, the ADC Handwara, Aziz Ahmad Rather urged upon the students to take keen interest in the disaster management so that they can mitigate the crisis during untoward circumstances.
Speakers also emphasized upon the participants for exercising their franchise and also motivating near and dear ones to cast their vote on the poll day. During the programme, informative sessions on various topics related to the electoral process and the importance of ethical voting was held. The programme received positive feedback from the participants, who found it informative and engaging. Participants also appreciated the efforts of the Nodal officer, SVEEP, for organizing such a programme and creating awareness about the electoral process. Principal Government Degree College, Handwara, Tehsildar Handwara, Dy. Chief Education officer, ZEO, besides other officers and officials were also present on the occasion.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner (RO), Handwara, Aziz Ahmad Rather & ARO Handwara, Zeeshan Khan highlighted the importance of the SVEEP programme and value of the vote in strengthening the democracy at grassroot level.
