BJP Targets Rahul Gandhi Over Reported Foreign Visit, ‘Missing’ Posters Appear in Delhi

NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday intensified its criticism of Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi over his reported foreign visit, with posters describing the Congress leader as “missing” appearing at several locations across the national capital.

Reacting to the development, BJP National Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla took a swipe at Rahul Gandhi in a post on X, referring to him as “Gumshuda Lapata MIA Rahul Baba” and “Leader of Paryatan.”

In another post on X, Poonawalla contrasted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s work record with Rahul Gandhi’s reported foreign travels.

He claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spent nearly 9,000 days in public office as Chief Minister and Prime Minister without taking a holiday, while alleging that Rahul Gandhi spends substantial amounts on foreign vacations each year.

In a video message issued on Friday, Poonawalla further alleged that Rahul Gandhi is frequently absent during crucial political developments and parliamentary proceedings.

“Rahul Gandhi should rename LoP as ‘Leader of Paryatan and Partying’ because that’s what he always does. On one hand, Prime Minister Modi has become the longest-serving elected Prime Minister of the country and, during the last 9,000 days as Chief Minister and Prime Minister, has not taken a single day off. This is work mode and seva mode,” Poonawalla said.

He further alleged that Rahul Gandhi repeatedly travels abroad whenever Parliament, his party or the country requires his presence.

Poonawalla also questioned the expenditure on Rahul Gandhi’s reported foreign visits, alleging that the Congress leader had not disclosed details regarding the funding of those trips.

The Congress had not immediately responded to the BJP’s allegations at the time of filing this report.(Agencies)
