An official told the news agency that the deceased, identified as Mohammad Hanzala of Tiken village in Pulwama, had accidentally fallen into the fast-flowing stream near Dubjan Bridge on April 27.

He said the strong currents swept the minor away instantly.

“The body was retrieved this morning from a downstream location in the Ranbiara stream after a five-day search operation,” the official said.

He added that teams from the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) had launched a rescue operation soon after the incident.

Meanwhile, specialised equipment was used to search deeper sections of the nallah, while additional manpower was deployed to intensify the operation. Expert civilian body retrievers, including a well-known volunteer from Doda, were also engaged to enhance recovery efforts.—(KNO)
