Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Doifode Sagar Dattatray today morning flaged off ” Run for Unity” at Government Higher Secondary School, Kupwara.

The SSP Kupwara, Yougal Manhas, Principal HSS Kupwara, DSP Hqr, Rashid Younis, DYS&SO Jitender Singh, Officers/ officials from Administration and Youth Services and Sports department were present a the occasion, besides a large number of students representing various Educational Institutions of the district.

The District Level Run for Unity went through bye pass road Kupwara Town and culminated DPL Kupwara.

The programme was jointly organised by Department of Youth Services & Sports and Police.

Addressing at the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the importance of the concept behind the ‘Run for Unity’ programme and said that the programme was observed across the country to commomerate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

He said the birth anniversary is celebrated as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas or National Unity Day. He said the best way to celebrate the anniversary is to follow the ideas of the late leader. He highlighted the role played by the leader in uniting the nation.

Terming youth as symbol of unity and power, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the need for channelizing this power in a more better way for nation building.

He urged upon the youth to come forward and avail the opportunities being designed by the Government from time to time.
