Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Doifode Sagar Dattatray today inaugurated Martyr Abdul Hameed Chara Memorial Government Boys Middle School Kupwara which was renamed after Martyr Police Constable, Abdul Hameed Chara.
Chief Education Officer Kupwara, Abdul Hameed Fani, Teachers, School Children were present, besides, Next Kin and Kith of Matyrs were also invited on the occasion.
Meanwhile, It was informed that 14 out of 17 schools have been renamed in the district so far on the names of Martyrs of respective areas as per the directions of the Government.
Addressing the students on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the role of Martyrs in building of nation. He urged upon the students to make efforts for their overall personality development.
The Deputy Commissioner also interacted with the family members of the Martyr and expressed sympathies with them. He assured all possible support to the family from the District Administration.
Meanwhile, the family members of the martyr were delighted and expressed their gratitude towards the Government and District Administration for naming the school after the Matyr, Abdul Hameed Chara.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner visited Government High School Magam in Handwara sub division and took part in the Anti Drug programme in the school.
Speaking at the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner stressed upon the students to focus on their personality and career development which will assure them a prosperous life and become good citizens. He directed them to get inspiration from young officers and achievers who have made name and fame in the country in different fields.
Regarding drugs, the Deputy Commissioners said that the drugs ruin the career and life of a person and urged the students to keep themselves away from social evils like drugs.
He said that this is the land of knowledge and gave examples of various IAS officers, Doctors, Engineers and young achievers from the district who inspire the youth.
The Deputy Commissioner also announced that he has identified an agency which will provide free coaching to the aspirants for UPSC IAS exam in coming days.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner distributed medals among best performing students of the school.
