BANDIPORA : On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Bandipora and to discuss and strategize the growth and development of cooperative activities in the district, the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Bandipora, Mohammad Ashraf Hakak Tuesday chaired District Cooperative Development Committee (DCDC) meeting at New VC Room, Mini Secretariat, here.

The ADDC said that District Cooperative Development Committee plays a crucial role in fostering cooperation and coordination among different cooperative societies and organizations within the region.

He said it acts as a pivotal platform for promoting sustainable economic development, empowering local communities and enhancing the overall socio-economic landscape of Bandipora.

The ADDC emphasized the need to prioritize cooperative activities to ensure the welfare of farmers, artisans, and other stakeholders in the rural and urban areas of Bandipora.

The Deputy Registrar Cooperative Societies Bandipora informed that the committee explored opportunities for skill development programs, training workshops, and capacity-building initiatives to empower cooperative members with modern techniques and knowledge.

He said that the department has framed strategies to improve market linkages for cooperative produce, helping local farmers and artisans access larger markets and garner better prices for their products.

He informed that under J&K Cooperative Societies Act 1989, a total of 24 Cooperative Societies are functional within the district. He further informed that under J&K Self Reliant Cooperative Act 1999, there are 105 cooperatives registered in the district.

The meeting discussed measures to promote financial inclusion by providing easy access to credit and banking services to cooperative members, thereby uplifting their standard of living.

The ADDC assured every possible support to the department to create an enabling environment for cooperative growth, fostering self-reliance, and ensuring overall socio-economic progress.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Registrar Cooperative Society District Bandipora Adnan Nazir, Assistant Register Headquarters Bandipora, officers of different other concerned departments besides representatives from various cooperative sectors.
