Deep Soni Balwal, who hails from Udhampur, Jammu, has showcased her talent at the national level with her paintings depicting the lives of women. Being a contemporary and mural artist.
Deepa said, “I was inclined towards painting since childhood. I started participating in competitions during college. This became a motivating factor for me and I started painting. Later it was turned into a profession. “My paintings reflect the struggles of women in their lives. The success stories do not come out of their comfort zone. This is true because I faced so many struggles in my life.
Deepa Soni said, “If there is anyone who can turn an excruciating pain into a beautiful yet wrenching thing then it has to be an artist. It takes immense dedication and commitment to carve a beauty especially from a place which has been nothing but dominated with distressing events”
Soni also said “And Kashmir being very close to my heart has always been a part of my work, its beauty, its tragedy, and my feelings for it all come together in my work.”
This work not only earns me recognition and respect but is also a major source of inspiration in my life,” Deepa told Global Kashmir. “This place where I am today is like a shrine to me and the work I do is a kind of prayer.”
