Delhi Enforces BS-VI Entry Ban, ‘No PUC, No Fuel’ Rule to Curb Air Pollution

NEW DELHI: The ban on the entry of non-Delhi private vehicles below BS-VI emission standards came into force in the national capital on Thursday, along with the enforcement of the ‘No PUC, No Fuel’ rule, as authorities intensified measures to combat worsening air pollution.

Fuel pumps across the city have stopped dispensing fuel to vehicles without valid Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates. The enforcement is being carried out using automatic number plate reader (ANPR) cameras, voice alerts at fuel stations, and police support.

According to officials, around 580 police personnel have been deployed at 126 checkpoints, including city borders. Enforcement teams of the Transport Department have also been stationed at petrol pumps and border points to ensure strict compliance.

However, the entry ban on non-compliant BS-VI vehicles does not apply to vehicles running on CNG or electric power, public transport, or those carrying essential commodities or providing essential services. Vehicles transporting construction materials have also been barred from entering the city under the GRAP IV restrictions.(Agencies)
