PULWAMA : As part of the ongoing Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, District Administration Pulwama, in collaboration with the District Social Welfare office, today continued its series of school outreach programmes aimed at sensitising students about the harmful effects of drug abuse.
Awareness sessions were conducted across several government and private schools in different educational zones of the district. The programmes witnessed active participation of students, school authorities, teachers, and officials from concerned departments.
During the sessions, resource persons from the Education, Health, and Social Welfare Departments delivered informative lectures and engaged students through interactive discussions on the physical, mental, and social consequences of drug abuse. Emphasis was laid on the importance of early awareness, healthy lifestyle choices, and the proactive role of students in promoting a drug-free environment within their institutions and communities.
Medical experts and counsellors provided guidance on identifying early signs of substance use and encouraged students to seek help without hesitation. Students also took a collective pledge to lead a drug-free life and to act as responsible citizens in spreading awareness among their peers.
The campaign will continue in the coming days with more educational institutions being covered, ensuring that the message of prevention, awareness and support reaches every student in the district.
