Srinagar have been quite famous for enhancing the beauty of arts and craft of Jammu and Kashmir. They are world famous for carpets and wooden furniture. Along with it, the antique items include Pashmina shawls, Crewel works, brass and silver ware paper machie are other interesting articles. Srinagar has qualicraft for UNESCO’S  city of craft and Arts because of its craft and folk arts, which is an intrinsic part of its tourism, besides the breathtaking beauty of the city itself. It is celebrated for its traditional Kashmiri handicrafts like shawls, and also dried fruits . The Jammu Kashmir government, the Kashmir handicraft department, has started a process in a unique way to give new life to those world-famous dying craft of Kashmir.

Artisans see UNESCO’s recognition of Srinagar’s folk art as a welcome step to revive the city’s fading cultural crafts.
