The Exalted Lord’s relationship with His slaves is unlike any other. The Lord of the World has an endless and unconditional love and affection for His creation. One of the many blessings has been given to a believer in the form of Dua, or petition, which is both strong and straightforward. The dua serves as a believer’s tool to meet all of his wants and is arguably the fastest way to connect to the Lord who has the dominion and who possesses all power. The Almighty Allah on umpteenth times asks His servants to invoke upon Him. Allah says in the Holy Book, “And when My servants ask you concerning Me, I am indeed close (to them): I respond to the Dua (prayer) of every suppliant when they call on Me. (Quran 2:186) The lord never gets tired listening to the pleas of His creation and answering to their calls. When Adam (peace be upon him) committed a mistake out of forgetfulness, the Almighty Himself taught him a powerful supplication to ask for forgiveness. Following that, the lord accepted his supplication. The Beloved Prophet Peace be upon him would most often beseech Allah and supplicate during nights and days, wars and prostration, happiness and gloom. To highlight the essence of supplication, the messenger of Allah said, “The supplication is the essence of worship.” Having said that, a believer must not lose hope and should continue supplicating before His lord for the creator knows when and what is better for His creation. Regarding this, the Prophet peace be upon him said, “The supplication of every one of you will be granted if he does not get impatient and say (for example): `I supplicated my Rabb but my prayer has not been granted.’’ [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]. A supplication should always be in the believer’s To-do-list at the face of any calamity, need or a blessing. May Allah accept our supplications and bless us all!
