“And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquility in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed In that are signs for a people who give thought” – (Surah Ar-Rum, 30:21). Adam, the first man on earth was gifted with the greatest of the blessings which primarily became a means of solace, love, and bliss for him. Eve was created as a pair of Adam who would complete each other. As Allah says in the Holy Quran, “We created you in pairs”, Adam and Eve mark the beginning of the “Love Stories” in the universe. In the form of marriage, the exalted lord coalesces the two souls together and fills their hearts with love and compassion. Deemed as the closest bond between human hearts, a husband-wife relationship is more than fulfillment of sexual desires. When the Last Prophet of Allah(peace be upon him)received the firstRevelation, it was his wife, Khadijah who wrapped him and consoled him with the congenial words -“Be happy. I swear by Allah that He shall never humiliate you. By Allah, you join ties of relationship, you speak the truth, you bear people’s burden, you help the destitute, you entertain guests, and you help against the vicissitudes which affect people.” She was the one who supported, loved and believed in his prophethood, when no one else did. The primary motive of marriage is to find solace in each other and strive together to attain the consciousness of the creator. The Majestic Quran in one of its verses describes the marital relationship between a Muslim man and a Muslim womenas, “They are garments for you and you are garments for them.” The verse emphasizes the mutual love and trust between couples and that they must protect each other and hide each other’s flaws. Both of them have been instructed to fulfill each other’s rights. The beloved Prophet said, ““The best of you is the best to his wives, and I am the best of you to my wives [Jami’ at-Tirmidhi].Regarding the rights of the husbands, the Prophet said, “The woman who dies in the state that her husband is pleased with her will enter Jannah” (Tirmidhi). In a word, a husband and a wife are garments for each other, who lay down the basis for a happy future.
