The development of strong, adaptable health systems that can address growing disparities in healthcare demand while also protecting populations from soaring medical and pharmaceutical prices is considered as a path toward achieving universal health coverage. The fundamental tenet of Universal Health Care is that no one should be denied access to high-quality medical care due to inability to pay. UHC has recently developed into a crucial sign of human equity, security, and dignity. Universal Health Care has established itself as a globally recognised goal of public policy. In many nations, it has even been largely realised. It typically relies on one or both of two fundamental strategies: social insurance and public service. The lack of public health centres, however, increases the likelihood that patients will rush to pricey hospitals every other day, wasting resources and driving up the cost of the entire system. Another big challenge remains in identifying what services are to be universally provided to begin with and what level of financial protection is considered acceptable. Offering the same set of services to the entire population is not economically feasible and demands huge resource mobilisation. As a result, a healthy healthcare system is required, one that includes excellent work ethics and culture as well as good management and sufficient resources. A primary health centre can do miracles, but only if medical professionals are present to treat patients.A UHC framework that bases its foundation primarily on healthcare as a public service is conceivable. The framework, which could be referred to as “Healthcare As An Optional Public Service” (HOPS), would grant everyone the legal right to receive cost-effective, high-quality healthcare from a public institution if they so choose. Nobody would be prevented from paying for their own healthcare in the private sector. With states like Tamil Nadu already doing so, India needs to oversee all these challenges and look forward to achieving Universal Health Care.
